Purpose:
The Purpose of the Adult team is to create an environment where men and women become more like Christ.
Core Values:
- We believe that we need the Bible to grow in Christ-likeness. The Bible is to be the foundation for our lives and for all transformation in the Christian life. Paul writes, “All Scripture is God breathed and is profitable for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God might be fully equipped for every good work.” (2 Tim. 3:16) Even though we might use different types of curriculum and cover various topics in our ministry, our main focus is always to get people connected to the Bible and see what it has to say and to allow it to impact our hearts and lives.
- We believe that we need each other in order to grow in Christ-likeness. We are called to teach each other (Romans 15:4), encourage each other (Heb. 10:24), challenge each other (1 Thess 5:12), care for one another (1 Cor. 12:24), and be devoted to one another (Romans 12:10). We are to help each other to share in the promises that we have in Christ Jesus (Eph. 2:6). We can not become all that God is calling us to be walking alone in the Christian life. We seek to get people connected to others as brothers and sisters in Christ.
- We believe that we need small group experiences to grow in Christ-likeness. As important as our Sunday morning worship experience is, we also need to be able to connect with a smaller group on a deeper level to truly experience what it means to be part of the family of God. Therefore, our goal is to get people to interact with the Bible and with one another in small groups in meaningful ways in all that we offer.
Focus:
We seek to have our various ministries address these five main areas to facilitate transformation in our lives:
- Biblical Knowledge: developing a basic understanding of key people, places, events and promises in the Bible.
- A Biblical World View; evaluating our lives and our culture through the filter of the Bible, seeking to see things as God does.
- Godly Convictions: cultivating values, commitments, and motives that reflect Jesus Christ living in our hearts.
- Godly Skills: training in the skills of quiet times, Bible study, prayer, memorization, and sharing one’s faith.
- Godly Character: growing in the fruit of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, that reflect the power of Christ in our lives.
